Eric T. Young advises highly-regulated organizations on reengineering compliance, ethics, and regulatory technology programs to enable reputable and sustainable business growth. He has deep regulatory experience having spent close to 40 years in chief compliance officer roles at some of the world’s largest institutions, including five global banks. Professor Young focuses on building and sustaining enterprise compliance programs aligned with the U.S. Department of Justice sentencing guidelines, the rules and regulations enforced by the Federal Reserve Board, U.S. Treasury, including the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, New York State Department of Financial Services, UK Financial Conduct Authority, as well as the Bank Secrecy Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and Basel Standards.

Throughout his career, Professor Young has remediated and transformed corporate compliance programs; integrated compliance and ethics cultures between regions, countries, and companies to ensure consistency across enterprises; built compliance budgets; enhanced reporting; created governance frameworks and risk assessments, and monitoring and testing programs; closed compliance gaps; restructured compliance teams; and mentored junior staff to create a pipeline of future compliance leaders and enable grassroots compliance ideas, solutions, and digital upgrades.

Most recently, Professor Young was the chief executive officer and founder of Young Enterprises, a compliance advisory firm. Previously, he led global and regional teams to sustain compliance and ethics programs at BNP Paribas Americas, S&P Global Ratings, Royal Bank of Scotland, General Electric, UBS, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and JPMorgan Chase. Professor Young began his career at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

In addition to his corporate work, Professor Young is an adjunct professor of ethics and compliance classes at Fordham University School of Law. He is also an advisory board member for multiple AI technology companies, including Rebellion Research, WebDoctors.com, HyperVerge, Inc., and AI Data Innovations.

In December 2021, he received the inaugural Lifetime Achievement (Excellence in Compliance Community) Award by RAW Compliance, a nonprofit global compliance platform and community.

Professor Young is a frequent speaker and author and has been featured in the American Banker, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Reuters. He recently published the book Declaration of Independence about the strategic partnership between chief compliance officers and boards of directors to hold management more accountable.
